Weddings are not exactly events meant for
kids. Explaining the wine toasting, the garter placing, the naughty stories and
advices is going to be a challenge for any parent. With the many things that go
on during a wedding, none of which would seem in the least bit interesting to a
child, kids may really seem out of place in such events. However, with the
variety of guests in a wedding, seeing kids in the ceremony or reception is
inevitable especially if many of the couple’s friends have gotten married
before them and have kids already.
This is the reason why many catering
companies would usually advice couples to include some food choices in their
selection specifically for the little ones. Although you can certainly serve
the usual fare, your guests would appreciate having other choices for their
picky eaters. Serving dishes that are well-loved by kids will also keep the
peace and keep them preoccupied. But what do you usually serve kids on weddings
anyway. Here are some ideas.
·
French fries. These are excellent as snacks, appetizer, or side dish whether for a
simple birthday party or a wedding. French fries are the ultimate food for kids
because these are almost always a hit even among picky eaters. You can put an
extra twist to the french fries by asking your catering service company
to serve 2 to 3 healthy dips as well. The kids will surely have fun trying out
the different dips with the fries.
·
Chicken/fish
fingers. Serve some meat to the kids also and make it easy to east.
Request for some chicken or fish fingers to be served or you can also opt for
nuggets. These tasty treats will definitely be well-eaten by little guests.
·
Mac and
cheese. A lot of kids get picky when it comes to rice and pasta, so
provide them with a classic pasta dish for kids – macaroni and cheese. The
reason why this is a staple food item served to kids no matter what occasion
and time are its cheesy yummy taste and nutritional value.
·
Vegetable and
fruit cutouts. Make your kids buffet table even healthier by serving
vegetable and fruit cutouts. To entice the little ones to gnaw on these
nutritious treats, serve them with yummy dips and sauces. If you would like to
provide an extra appeal, you can also put a chocolate fountain where they can
have a little messy fun dipping the fruits and vegetables.
