How To Be Your Own On-The-Day Coordinator

Planning a wedding can be stressful and challenging. Some brides, even those who enjoy the planning at the start, will have hurdles along the way. Although it is quite easy to just hire someone to do full coordination, a lot of brides nowadays want a more hands-on approach to their own wedding planning. After all, it is not every day that you get married. At the same time, there is no one who can understand or predict the bride’s decisions better than the bride herself especially when it comes down to the details.

However, despite most brides’ desire to be their own on-the-day wedding coordinator, a lot of them settle for hiring other people due to the sheer number of things that have to be taken care of. Still, enjoying the wedding that you  have planned for and dream of, and being your own on-the-day coordinator is possible whether you are having your wedding in the Kaisa Heritage Center, the beach, Fernwoods, or anywhere else. Below are some tips to help you.

·         Create a checklist. The first thing you will have to prepare is a checklist of things and tasks that need to be done on the wedding day. While running through your whole wedding day in your mind, create a checklist of items to distribute and collect, and tasks that need to be done. Make your checklist as detailed as possible; include the person in-charge and the specific time that each task needs to be done.

·         Delegate. Accept that you should not be doing anything on your wedding day except to enjoy yourself. Hence, you will have to delegate everything to a group of people who will be your coordinating team.

·         Get people you can trust and rely on. The secret is in getting the right people for your team. Get those that you can trust and rely on, and those who can think on their feet. Quick decision-making skills and critical thinking are traits that you would want for people coordinating your wedding.

·        Have contingency plans. It is best to have more than just one plan for your wedding day. Think of possible things that can go wrong and have something in place in case any of these happens. Prepare for things such as if the company providing the cateringservices in Quezon City is late for their call time or if the weather does not cooperate.

·         Do a dry run. Once you have your checklist, your coordinating team, and the assigned tasks, then do a dry run of the wedding. Go through the whole day from start to finish as if it is the wedding day itself. Chances are you will make some revisions to your plans afterwards.
