Renewal of Vows: Famous Pinoy Personality Couples Who Renewed Their Vows

There are various reasons why married couples renew their vows: it can be to celebrate a momentous milestone in their relationship such as that of silver or golden anniversaries, to recommit to each other and be reminded of the promises they swore on the first time or to have a semblance of a formal wedding once again.

Who Among The Famous Pinoy Personality Couples Renewed Their Vows
The Philippines has its own share of popular vow renewals made publicly by our favorite Pinoy personality couples. Wondering who they are? Here is a quick list.

1.       Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres. Their love story is like the one you see in the movies. They first met in 1993 on a commercial shoot for a soap ad. The chemistry was there, only… they were both taken at that time. But fate brought them back together after a few years. They were unattached by then and Richard started pursuing Lucy with intense fervor from daily phone calls from Germany to charming Lucy’s and her family’s hearts until he received her much-awaited yes. They got engaged on the same year, 1997 and in the summer of 1998, April 28 to be exact, they finally tied the knot. It was held at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Ormoc City and was considered as one of the most publicized wedding in the country. One Sunday, exactly fifteen years later, they took some time off from campaigning – Gomez was running for mayor then while Lucy for another term as a representative of Leyte’s 4th District – and celebrated their anniversary through a renewal of vows at the same church.

2.       Miriam Defensor and Narciso Yap Santiago, Jr. The feisty senator has always wanted to experience marching down the aisle with her 3 granddaughters. The opportunity presented itself on her 40 years of marriage. Held on June 19, 2011, 6 in the evening at the Manila Cathedral, she and her husband exchanged their “I Do”’s the second time around.  Officiated by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, the entourage was led by VIPs namely President Benigno Aquino III as the best man and showbiz actress Heart Evangelista as maid of honor. Several huge names in the Philippine politics, business and media also graced the occasion: Vice President Jejomar Binay; Senators Edgardo Angara, Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano, Jinggoy Estrada, Loren Legarda, Ramon Revilla Jr., Antonio Trillanes IV, Manuel Villar, and Juan Miguel Zubiri; former presidents Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo; Chief Justice Renato Corona; businessmen Manuel V. Pangalinan and Eduardo Cojuangco Jr; newspaper icons Marixi Prieto and Dr. Emilio Yap; and media personalities like Korina Sanchez and GMA network chairman/CEO Felipe Gozon. Asked about their secret to a successful marriage, Sen. Miriam said: "We never see each other in my house. That's the secret. Sometimes, I'm surprised that I'm married to someone so good-looking because I hardly ever see him." And as for her advice to young couples:  "Be kind to each other."

3.       Alvin Patrimonio and Cindy Conwi. The PBA icon renewed his lifetime pledges with his lovely wide after being married for 25 years. Held at the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion at the Fort, their daughters were the maids of honor whereas their sons were the best men. Asked about their formula for making their relationship last, here is what his significant other said: “Without God at the center of our marriage, we would not have reached this far. As human beings, there are times we tend to think only of ourselves. But once you get to know the right things to do according to God’s word, it helps you to become unselfish”. And as for the vow on their silver nuptials: “Even with all the trials we have faced in the past 25 years, I hated going through them but I would not change a single thing because we would not be as strong and as in love if we didn’t experience them. Being with you is such a gift from God. I love the life you have given me. Thank you for loving me.

What To Serve To Kids On Your Wedding

Weddings are not exactly events meant for kids. Explaining the wine toasting, the garter placing, the naughty stories and advices is going to be a challenge for any parent. With the many things that go on during a wedding, none of which would seem in the least bit interesting to a child, kids may really seem out of place in such events. However, with the variety of guests in a wedding, seeing kids in the ceremony or reception is inevitable especially if many of the couple’s friends have gotten married before them and have kids already.

This is the reason why many catering companies would usually advice couples to include some food choices in their selection specifically for the little ones. Although you can certainly serve the usual fare, your guests would appreciate having other choices for their picky eaters. Serving dishes that are well-loved by kids will also keep the peace and keep them preoccupied. But what do you usually serve kids on weddings anyway. Here are some ideas.

·
French fries. These are excellent as snacks, appetizer, or side dish whether for a simple birthday party or a wedding. French fries are the ultimate food for kids because these are almost always a hit even among picky eaters. You can put an extra twist to the french fries by asking your catering service company to serve 2 to 3 healthy dips as well. The kids will surely have fun trying out the different dips with the fries.

·         Chicken/fish fingers. Serve some meat to the kids also and make it easy to east. Request for some chicken or fish fingers to be served or you can also opt for nuggets. These tasty treats will definitely be well-eaten by little guests.

·         Mac and cheese. A lot of kids get picky when it comes to rice and pasta, so provide them with a classic pasta dish for kids – macaroni and cheese. The reason why this is a staple food item served to kids no matter what occasion and time are its cheesy yummy taste and nutritional value.

·         Vegetable and fruit cutouts. Make your kids buffet table even healthier by serving vegetable and fruit cutouts. To entice the little ones to gnaw on these nutritious treats, serve them with yummy dips and sauces. If you would like to provide an extra appeal, you can also put a chocolate fountain where they can have a little messy fun dipping the fruits and vegetables.

How To Be Your Own On-The-Day Coordinator

Planning a wedding can be stressful and challenging. Some brides, even those who enjoy the planning at the start, will have hurdles along the way. Although it is quite easy to just hire someone to do full coordination, a lot of brides nowadays want a more hands-on approach to their own wedding planning. After all, it is not every day that you get married. At the same time, there is no one who can understand or predict the bride’s decisions better than the bride herself especially when it comes down to the details.

However, despite most brides’ desire to be their own on-the-day wedding coordinator, a lot of them settle for hiring other people due to the sheer number of things that have to be taken care of. Still, enjoying the wedding that you  have planned for and dream of, and being your own on-the-day coordinator is possible whether you are having your wedding in the Kaisa Heritage Center, the beach, Fernwoods, or anywhere else. Below are some tips to help you.

·         Create a checklist. The first thing you will have to prepare is a checklist of things and tasks that need to be done on the wedding day. While running through your whole wedding day in your mind, create a checklist of items to distribute and collect, and tasks that need to be done. Make your checklist as detailed as possible; include the person in-charge and the specific time that each task needs to be done.

·         Delegate. Accept that you should not be doing anything on your wedding day except to enjoy yourself. Hence, you will have to delegate everything to a group of people who will be your coordinating team.

·         Get people you can trust and rely on. The secret is in getting the right people for your team. Get those that you can trust and rely on, and those who can think on their feet. Quick decision-making skills and critical thinking are traits that you would want for people coordinating your wedding.

·        Have contingency plans. It is best to have more than just one plan for your wedding day. Think of possible things that can go wrong and have something in place in case any of these happens. Prepare for things such as if the company providing the cateringservices in Quezon City is late for their call time or if the weather does not cooperate.

·         Do a dry run. Once you have your checklist, your coordinating team, and the assigned tasks, then do a dry run of the wedding. Go through the whole day from start to finish as if it is the wedding day itself. Chances are you will make some revisions to your plans afterwards.
